What is expansion joint?
The expansion joint is a high-performance hose with a shorter length, usually not exceeding 1 meter. It is widely used because of its ability to withstand multiple pressure levels and can adapt to negative pressure, positive pressure, and complex working conditions. For example, some expansion joints can withstand a negative pressure of -0.1MPa, some can withstand a positive pressure of up to 2.5MPa, and some can work stably in a pressure range of -0.1 to +1.5MPa. This flexible performance makes it an indispensable component of the key piping system of dredgers.
The main purpose of expansion joint
In large dredgers (such as CSD and TSHD), CDSR expansion joints are mainly used in the following key parts:
- Flexible connection between mud pump and pipeline
- Interfaces between pipelines
- Compensation and connection of specific deck piping
Due to the flexibility of the hose, the expansion joint has a certain telescopic ability, which can effectively compensate for the installation gap between pipes, greatly facilitating the installation and maintenance of the equipment. At the same time, it can effectively reduce vibration during operation, reduce damage to equipment caused by vibration, and provide guarantee for the reliability of the entire pipeline system.

Types of CDSR expansion joint
CDSR expansion joint is available with steel flange type and rubber flange type, meeting different pipeline design requirements and installation environments.
Performance characteristics
1. Wide range of pressure levels
CDSR expansion joint performs well in withstanding negative and positive pressures, can match actual working conditions of various pressure levels, and has a wide range of applications.
2. Excellent wear resistance
Special hose materials and technology ensure that the expansion joint still maintains good wear resistance when facing mud and impurities, and has a long service life.
3. Good scalability
The product has a certain elasticity and expansion range, which can effectively alleviate installation errors and thermal expansion and contraction of pipelines, thereby improving the overall stability of the pipeline system.
4. Significant shock absorption effect
The flexible pipe structure can reduce the transmission of equipment vibration, protect the pump and pipe interfaces, and reduce the risk of failure.
Technical Parameters
Pressure range: -0.1MPa to +3.0MPa
Tube length: 200mm to 1000mm
Nominal diameter: 100mm to 1300mm
These technical parameters ensure that the expansion joint can adapt to the actual needs of various large dredgers.
With its flexible structural design and excellent physical properties, CDSR expansion joint not only ensures the stable connection between the pump and the pipeline, but also effectively improves the safety and maintenance convenience of the equipment. Because of this, CDSR expansion joints are highly trusted and widely used by users at home and abroad.
