The Klang West Port Expansion Project in Malaysia is located in the Klang Port Free Zone, Selangor. The first phase of the project (CT10-CT13) includes dredging of the port basin and channel, reclamation of the rear storage yard, and foundation treatment. As an important auxiliary equipment for trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) operations, the CDSR Bow Blowing Hose Set played a key role in the dredging and reclamation work of the "Xin Hai Feng" vessel in this project.
The Bow Blowing Hoses Set is an important part of the bow blowing system on Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger(TSHD). It includes a set of flexible hoses connected with the bow blowing system on the TSHD and the floating pipeline. It is composed of a head float, a buoyancy-free hose (Hose A), a tapered floating hose (Hose B) and mainline floating hoses (Hose C and Hose D), with the quick coupling, Bow Blowing Hose Set can quickly be connected to or disconnected from the bow blowing system. During operations, after the TSHD completes dredging and loading of silt and sand into the hold within the channel or harbor basin, it can transport the silt and sand to the near shore or a pre-designated area through the bow blowing pipeline for dredging or unloading, thereby improving operational efficiency and reducing the number of berthing trips.
The Klang West Port project involves extensive dredging and requires the transport of silt and sand to designated reclamation areas and pipeline terminals. The flexible arrangement of the bow blowing system enables the "Xin Hai Feng" vessel to adapt to different water depths and tidal conditions, achieving continuous transport.
Bow Blowing Hose A as a buoyancy-free section, is typically used to connect to Head Float and water pipelines to ensure stability at the interface; Bow Blowing Hose B is used in piping systems where bending is required, thereby achieving a transition of buoyancy in the hose section; Bow Blowing Hose C and D are responsible for long-distance floating transport on water surfaces. Their floating performance and resistance to wind and waves are directly related to the stability and smoothness of the mud transport pipeline. The Head Float unit supports the male head and Bow Blowing Hose A, preventing pipeline sinking or stress concentration; the quick coupling shortens the time for offshore connection and disassembly, improving construction mobility.
In terms of construction organization, the project combined tidal windows and waterway safety management, and coordinated the cooperation of the "Xin Hai Feng" vessel with pipeline laying vessels, towing vessels and other parties. The modular design of the bow blowing system allows for rapid pipeline reconfiguration when adjustments to the delivery location or docking with shore pipes are required, effectively reducing downtime.
Upon completion, the expansion of West Port Klang will improve container throughput and regional logistics efficiency. The completion of this project is of great strategic significance for China-Malaysia economic cooperation, global supply chain connectivity, and regional economic integration.
