What is vulcanization

Vulcanization refers to the process of chemically reacting rubber products (such as rubber hose) with vulcanizing agents (such as sulfur or sulfur oxides) under certain temperature and time conditions to form a cross-linked structure. This process rearranges the chemical bonds between rubber molecules, making the rubber stronger, more durable, and giving it specific physical properties. 

Advantages of vulcanized rubber:

Vulcanization helps the rubber to retain its original shape while causing the rubber to shrink on shrinking. The vulcanization process hardens the rubber, making it less prone to deformation. Compared with non-vulcanized rubber, vulcanized rubber has the following advantages: 

● Excellent elasticity

● Low water absorption

● High oxidation resistance and wear resistance

● Excellent electrical insulator

● Resistant to organic solvents

Hose Vulcanization

Vulcanization is an important process commonly used in hose manufacturing and repair. This process imparts better physical properties and durability to the hose.

● Vulcanization forming

After building the rubber hose, put it into a large steam vulcanization tank for high-temperature heat vulcanization, and then the hose will be formed after steam vulcanization and heating.

● Improved performance

The strength, stiffness and wear resistance of rubber can be improved by vulcanization, making it more durable, elastic and has better tensile, tear and wear resistance. 

● Increased lifespan

The rubber hose will be affected by various external factors during use, such as oxygen, ozone, ultraviolet rays and chemical substances. Vulcanization can form a layer of dense vulcanized rubber on the surface of the hose, which can improve the aging resistance of the hose and prolong its service life. 

Precautions for vulcanization

● Temperature control: The vulcanization temperature must be controlled within the specified range, otherwise it will affect the quality and service life of the hose.

● Pressure control: A certain pressure must be applied during vulcanization to ensure the quality and strength of the hose joints. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure the normal operation of the pressure control system of the autoclave, and to monitor and adjust the pressure.

● Time control: The vulcanization time must be controlled within the specified range. If it is too short, it will cause poor adhesion, and if it is too long, it will affect production efficiency.

● Operating standards: Operators need to be familiar with the operating procedures of the equipment, and operate correctly as required to avoid accidents due to improper operation. 

● Safety protection: During the vulcanization process, safety protection should be considered to prevent accidents, explosions and fires. At the same time, ventilation and protective measures should be taken to avoid harmful gases and high temperatures from affecting operators.
